Question
I am a Peruvian travelling in Bolivia now, in a few days will cross the frontier to Corumba (Brazil) and then go to Sao Paulo by bus.

Planning to return to Peru through Sao/Brasilia/Goiania/Porto Velho/Rio Branco, but wonder wether it is a good route to do it by bus.

My questions are :
1. Is there another route to return to Peru that you could reccomend me (not through Bolivia)?

2. Do you know how difficult is to croos the frontier Rio Branco/Peru?

Thanks a lot
Jaime

Answer
Jaime, you have a very loooooooooong trip ahead of you. I have never made a trip like that by bus. Can you speak Portuguese? When you are in Brazil, call Viacao Garcia at 0800-400-7090 (toll free) or 43-3373-2000 and see if they have any busses leaving SP to Peru, or if they can recommend some competitors.

Tghese guys might go to Peru by bus, ask them -- tho I think it is just for tour packages:
Agência Cia Nacional de Ecoturismo - R. Sena Madureira, 515 - Vila Mariana - São Paulo
Tel:(0xx11) 5571-2525 / Fax:(0xx11) 5571-8114

I also recommend you visit BrazilMax.com and email Bill Hinchberger. He is a travel specialist and should know this. His email is on his website.

Let me know if I can help you further at rapoza@igc.org.
