Brazil/Renting cars

Question
When I travel I like to see places outside the major cities.

Is it safe to rent a car and drive on its own between Rio and Angra inland?

Answer
Hello Mike,

It is safe (and pretty) as long you stay on main roads, drive during the day and stay around tourist places. Also, avoid traveling by yourself, have a cell phone and a contact in Brazil (particularly if your Portuguese is not very good).

I don't want to scare you, but like visiting any new place, extra preconscious is always good.

Have fun!
