Question
hi there,

I am traveling to rio das ostras with my daughter soon. since we have a layover in peru, i am being told we need vaccines for yellow fever. We are both medically excempt from this vaccine, but i am wondering if there is much scruteny about these vaccinations and the appropriate documentation, once you get to the border. I read that this excemption form needs to be notarized by the doctor, this seems really odd to me...how would I get this form notarized, and is that even neccassary? Thanks in advance

Answer
Hello Mel,

As far as I know, yellow fever vaccine is not mandatory in Brazil and is usually recommended by foreign governments for their citizens visiting tropical countries.

So, I don't believe it would cause any problem in the border for not having taken the vaccine. You can also consult a Brazilian consulate about this.

Have a nice and safe trip.
