hi im traveling to brazil for my first time for the new year, i will be in rio, im 19 and will be traveling with my friend also 19 were both english, ive heard bad things and good, is it a safe place to go on holiday?

Rio is a very dangerous, any goes place. However, there are extra cops on the streets during thise time of year. If you dont go wandering off to the favelas, or contract bad news prostitutes, you should be okay. Also, if you dont walk around looking like youve got money to burn and bulova watches around your wrists, you should be fine.  Never carry foreign cash. Never carry more money on you than you can handle losing.  It will be packed on the beach during New Years Eve, but it will be an experience you will never forget.  Jump seven ways in Copa at midnight, send Iamanja some flowers, and have a ball.
