Question
I am looking for a recipe for a Russian Bread shaped like a brick.

Answer
hi carrie, this is one of those items that is all but standard,it is called russian bread for who knows what reason,it may verry well have no origin in any soviet block country but more likely it was named on the fly because it sounds fairy innocent, trying to determine it's contents is not an easy task i'm going to let you in on a trade secret that we use to get rid of old and left over goods. get some old cake, danish, donuts, nothing moldy i am not suggesting you use anything that is beyond safe, just mildly stale stuff that is not at it's optimum state, let's say 1 pound total, mix it up in a machine for mixing cake with a paddle, add a little vanilla, some rum flavor, and a box of cakemix, the standard size for a cake that serves 10-15 people, follow box directions for mixing cake and add finished mix to blended stale baked goods till incorporated well, dispense in appropriate baking pan cover top with strussel crumbs and bake in 350f oven till knife comes out smooth,we call it russian tea cake and the people love it! good luck and let me know if i can help further. bob
