About Elyse Grau
Expertise
I can answer any questions about baking. The only thing I'm not too good at is baking pies, nor do I know much about high altitude baking.

Experience
I have been baking for over 30 years. One of my hobbies is creating recipes, most of those for baked goods. I made my own wedding cake. Currently I prefer to bake healthier things. I use a lot of whole wheat and other whole grain flours, and prefer to use less sugar or sugar substitutes in my baking. I do a lot with fruit.

Bread & Pastries - puff pastry

Expert: Elyse Grau - 2/14/2009

Question
Ok...WHERE do you get your puff pastry? We live in Central NY. I lived in Metro NY, on LI  for years and never saw it in freezer sections; Phyllo yes, puff, no.  Help!  I am an avid baker from scratch, but would prefer to get puff already made.

Answer
Anne Marie:

I can't answer specifically, as I live across the country from you. But it should be in the freezer section, usually with frozen desserts. Ask your grocer, maybe if they don't carry it they can order it. Also try a more "specialty" type grocer that tends to carry gourmet food items.
