AboutElyse Grau Expertise I can answer any questions about baking. The only thing I'm not too good at is baking pies, nor do I know much about high altitude baking.
Experience I have been baking for over 30 years. One of my hobbies is creating recipes, most of those for baked goods. I made my own wedding cake. Currently I prefer to bake healthier things. I use a lot of whole wheat and other whole grain flours, and prefer to use less sugar or sugar substitutes in my baking. I do a lot with fruit.
Question The last two times I've gone to bake a cinnamon bread recipe it hasn't worked. I've been successful at it the first two times I did it and unsuccessful the last two times. That last two times the bread never did rise. Someone suggested that maybe the yeast was deactivated. My question is, what can I do to prevent yeast from deactivating. Also, do you have ideas for what I can use by bread dough for rather than wasting it??
Answer Rebekah-
Store your yeast in the refrigerator to keep it fresh. Pay attention to the freshness date as well.
You can still bake the bread. Try making some rolls out of it or something, just make them flatter than you would normally so they won't be too heavy. They will probably still taste fine.
