About Elyse Grau
Expertise
I can answer any questions about baking. The only thing I'm not too good at is baking pies, nor do I know much about high altitude baking.

Experience
I have been baking for over 30 years. One of my hobbies is creating recipes, most of those for baked goods. I made my own wedding cake. Currently I prefer to bake healthier things. I use a lot of whole wheat and other whole grain flours, and prefer to use less sugar or sugar substitutes in my baking. I do a lot with fruit.

Question
hi
many years ago i used to make a fruit cake that involved putting all of the ingredients into a pan on the top of the stove to mix them and then transferring them to the oven to bake. it was very easy there was no sieving or beating, have you heard of this and do you know where i can get a copy of the recipe?
thanks
therese

Answer
Therese:
I'm not familiar with the cake, but I found something that sounds similar in Nigella Lawson's "How to Be a Domestic Goddess" (pg255). It just happens to be available online at http://www.randomhouse.co.uk/advent2002/recipes/certosino.htm.
