Bread & Pastries/Mw Convection oven for baking

Question
Hi Elyse, I am new to baking. I had tried my hands in my earler home where I had a big convection oven. We have shifted to a new place with no oven and am planning to buy a new oven. I found a number of choices for combination oven - Microwave convection oven. Do you think they will be good enough for baking cakes and would be as good as normal oven? We are vegans, so I believe a good oven is a must to make the cakes taste good enough. Would appreciate advice on this.

Thanks,
Smita

Answer
Smita:
I'm sure they would be fine. The combination ovens allow you to choose which mode you want to bake in, it's not like it uses all three methods together. Saves the space of having multiple appliances. I have a combo regular/convection toaster oven and it works great.

Expertise

I can answer any questions about baking. The only thing I'm not too good at is baking pies, nor do I know much about high altitude baking.

Experience

I have been baking for over 30 years. One of my hobbies is creating recipes, most of those for baked goods. I made my own wedding cake. Currently I prefer to bake healthier things. I use a lot of whole wheat and other whole grain flours, and prefer to use less sugar or sugar substitutes in my baking. I do a lot with fruit.
