Bread & Pastries/strawberry bagels

Question
Hey Elyse,
I used to buy some strawberry bagels from a local grocery; however they stopped making them.  Since then, I've decided to attempt to make my own.  I've decided to base my creation from a plain bagel recipe I found online.  My question is how can I make them into strawberry bagels(Link Below).  I was thinking of either some finely chopped strawberries or some strawberry jam/jelly.  I was wondering on your thoughts as far as methods and quantities for creating bagel.
Thanks,
Rob

Answer
Rob,
My thoughts on strawberry bagels (and blueberry, cinnamon, etc)is that they should be banned, so I'm probably not the best person to ask! But prejudices aside, I would opt for the chopped berries, kneaded into the dough. I'd keep the quantity low - maybe 1/4 cup. You might have to experiment with it a few times.

Expertise

I can answer any questions about baking. The only thing I'm not too good at is baking pies, nor do I know much about high altitude baking.

Experience

I have been baking for over 30 years. One of my hobbies is creating recipes, most of those for baked goods. I made my own wedding cake. Currently I prefer to bake healthier things. I use a lot of whole wheat and other whole grain flours, and prefer to use less sugar or sugar substitutes in my baking. I do a lot with fruit.
