Question
We bake a lot of all wheat kaisers bread and also mini corn bread loafs in a conventional electrical kitchen oven.Because of electricity prices, we're thinking on buying a convection gas oven.
Will the gas oven do the same or better job for our baking needs? If the answer is yes, any tips on how to choose one for our kitchen will be most appreciated. Thank you

Answer
Antonio:
I didn't know you could get a gas convection oven. Either way, a gas oven will work just fine. I prefer them for bread baking, because you can put a baking stone or pan on the floor of the oven, which is useful for some kinds of breads.

As for how to choose, it depends on what features you are looking for. I look for the largest interior. How much choice you have of course depends on the space you have and your budget.

Expertise

I can answer any questions about baking. The only thing I'm not too good at is baking pies, nor do I know much about high altitude baking.

Experience

I have been baking for over 30 years. One of my hobbies is creating recipes, most of those for baked goods. I made my own wedding cake. Currently I prefer to bake healthier things. I use a lot of whole wheat and other whole grain flours, and prefer to use less sugar or sugar substitutes in my baking. I do a lot with fruit.
