As a beginner how can I improve my skills in
bread making,pastries/baking.

Answer
HI Kelly:

What a loaded question.

That's like asking, "Do you know how to get to Carnegie Hall". Of course the answer is: practice, practice, practice...lol.

You can take classes, and I suggest King Arthur: http://www.kingarthurflour.com

For Breads, the book BREAD by Jeffrey Hamelman is the best, and for pastries, the book by Bo Friberg is the bible.

Other than that, you try something over and over until you're happy. In between, you find someone of whom you can ask questions, and I'm always here!

When you bake, find a formula that interests you. If it comes out right...bake it three more times to make sure. If it fails, try it again paying more close attention to the recipe and record everything you do.

If you decide to change something, change only one thing at a time!

But again, short of that, baking classes from competent people are is the best way to start.

Keep in touch!
