Question
I have only been in one serious realtionship.  It lasted about 5 years.  It started in high school and edned in my 2nd year of college.  This was almost 2 years ago.  I have still really not been able to move on.  I haven't even really dated yet either.  I feel like I am never going to be able to put this behind me.  I used to think we would get back together, but I know now that will never happen.  He has already moved on, he had a new girlfriend almost immediately, and now they have a child together.  We got together around halloween and its coming to that time again, and I am still feeling sad about it.  I really want to move on, please help!!!!!!!!

Answer
Everyone is different with how they move on...some people get over someone fast and others get over someone in a long time...it took me two years to get over someone, and it was really hard.
Have you been focusing on yourself? Going out and doing things to make you happy? You really need to quit focusing on him and what he's doing..
Things that helped me to move on is finding out new interests, making new friends, going out..just having fun! Then I realized being single can really be great! But you need to put the work into it in order to move on.. even if you don't really feel like it.
If you two are still keeping in touch, it would also really help to cut off contact for now so you can heal.

Good luck...Julie

I am a good listener and have helped friends get through break ups, I also have gone through a few myself and know how hard it is..if you just need to vent or need advice, feel free to ask
