Breast Cancer/Breast Check

Question
Dear Dr.

I am so concerned.  I had a routine breast check done some weeks back, and I have been recalled for a second screening.  The letter from the centre says "this routine check is part of our normal procedure".

I have no changes in breast appearance, no discharge, no nipple changes, I have detected no lumps by hand, and I am wondering why they are recalling me.  Surely something must have shown up on the mammogram.  But they do not say this.
I have good health, and I am just 65.
I am going back for the re-check this Monday, 13th, but I am scared.

Kind regards,
Patricia

Answer
Well, honestly I do not know more than you why precisely they are calling you back but it may just be that one or several pictures is/are unclear for whatever reason and nothing more so nothing alarming in itself. But of course I can not promise that. If we really did know your breast condition in advance then no mammography would be necessary!
