Breast Cancer/Lymphedemia Infection

Question
Hi, 12 days ago I was diagnosed with cellulitis in my arm that had lymph nodes removed.  I had fever along with red and swollen arm.  Since being on antibiotics my arm lost its redness and heat and I have had no fever for 11 days, and my arm basically looks like it did before the infection. How long does one stay on antibiotics to be sure infection is gone?  Thanks for your reply.

Answer
Normally around 10 days, but this is a potentially MUCH more serious and sensitive situation so a much longer period may be needed. You will have to ask your dr. what is considered necessary in YOUR present case! Since this is based on the clinical evaluation of your dr.
