Breast Cancer/'lump in tail of breast'

Question
Found a lump,GP has said it is in the 'tail' of my breast, its not a cyst as he couldn't draw any fluid off. He referred me to the breast dept at the hospital on 29th may. I am 31 and have no children. My mother was sucesfully treated for breast cancer 2 yrs ago, her mother died of bowel cancer and my dads mum had to have a mastectomy to get rid of breast cancer.

Answer
I can not understand why he did not 1. send you directly to the breast department and 2. arrange for you to have mammography so that would be done when you get there. You obviously run a certain breast cancer risk due to your family history and since you are childless. On the other hand your risk is still not very high since you are rather young BUT a breast cancer is not impossible. I would suggest mammography and thin needle aspiration biopsy to reach a diagnosis as soon as possible! Good luck!
