Breast Cancer/Bumps on the Nipple

Question
My question is that for a couple of years, (perhaps maybe 3 or 4?) I have noticed smalled raised bumps on the areola of my nipples, never actually on the nipple itself.  I noticed it before I even became pregnant with my 1st child, and now I have 2 children and haven't noticed any increase or decrease in the amount of these "bumps".

I tried to squeeze one and a soft, white substance came out.  Very similar to a pimple, but only ever white, not clear and only a very small amount would come out.  I just continue to squeeze this white substance out.  It is never painful when I do this either.  What could these bumps be?  Should I be concerned that it could be cancer or cysts or something?  I have a history of breast cancer on both of my parents sides also, and I'm only 27!  Not that that matters, but I wasn't sure how old you are when they usually recommend your first mammogram.  Please help if you can!  Thanks!

Answer
What you have seen are completely normal sebaceous glands in the areola of your nipple. So what you have squeezed out is completely normal sebaceous excretion. This is NOT dangerous and has nothing to do with breast cancer. Normally mammography is started when the patient is in her 40'ies or 50'ies but if you do have a heavy family history it can be started in your 30'ies or even earlier. Good luck!
