Breast Cancer/radiation and asthma

Question
Hello,
I read your response to the lady who asked a similar question about the
above and I had a follow up question. I'm half way through my treatments of
radiation for breast cancer and I was wondering if there is anything you
would recommend for better breathing during the remaining treatments. I
will of course consult with both my allergist and my oncologist. Thanks for
your time.

Answer
Dear Janice, I answer so many questions here so I do not even remember that particular answer of mine! Please tell me the dates of the question and my answer so that I may be able to check it! Basically though asthma is an inflammatory process in the airways. Radiation may also cause local (internal) inflammation like an internal sun burn. Since parts of your lungs will be within your radiation fields your air ways may be affected. I have not met this problem much in my work though but I would think that an inhaled aerosol of corticosteroids may be of help. But do discuss this with both your allergist and your oncologist! Good luck!
