Question
I asked previous questions on Jan 16th. You asked me to keep you posted so here it is. I had core biopsies of the 12 o'clock position and asked them to also check the 8 o'clock position as you suggested. Both areas are malignant. Invasive ductal carcinoma although the 8 o'clock area said it showed possibility of lobular. The surgeon said mastectomy would be required because of the 2 locations involved and their distance apart form each other. I had a mastectomy of the left breast last Wednesday. Sentinel node mapping was done the day before and during surgery the 2 nodes were clear. I am awaiting complete pathology report. I am er/pr positive and waiting on Her2. Do you think I will require chemo along with Tamoxifen? Also is the treatment and prognosis the same for both lobular and ductal? Thank you

Answer
Sorry to hear that! I do agree with your surgeon. As it stands now I see no reason for any chemotherapy - but indeed for hormonal treatment. Should you be Her2 positive chemotherapy should however at least be discussed. Please let me read the complete pathology report when available. With these sizes of your lesions there are no differences in prognosis to speak of. Good luck!
