Breast Cancer/Re: Mamogram

Question
I received a call from my Dr office today stating that they found shadows on both sides of my breasts and that they want to re do the mammogram as well as an ultra sound. I am unsure as to what this means and if shadows can be cancerous and if I should be asking my Dr any additional questions other then the obvious. I am 53 years old and have always had clean mammogram. My mom did have breast cancer 15 years ago which was related to her taking hormones

Answer
Well obviously something is seen AND SHOULD be investigated! Especially with your family history. What it in fact is I can not at present tell you - neither can your dr. or your radiologist that is why these new pictures must be done - but obviously this may be cancer but it may also be completely harmless. Only time will tell! Good luck! Please do keep me posted!
