Breast Cancer/BREAST MRI NEEDED?

Question
I had a mammogram and was called back. Something showed up on both mammos so they did an ultrasound. actually 2 of them and couldn't find anything. the radiologist recommended an MRI because he said he couldn't find a specific place to biopsy. My regular Dr. said they only order this about twice a year.rare, I am now terrified because I feel like I'm one in thousands that this happens to. should I be alarmed? could the mammo just show the dense masses because the ultrasound doesn't show anything. I heard him say central deep whatever that means. help. They haven't even given me the app't yet because of the cost. they have to make sure insurance will cover or if there is some less expensive coarse of action.

Answer
Actually breast MRI scans are not at all that rare. They are better than ultrasound scans and like them they can show things in dense breasts that can not easily be seen or not seen at all there with mammography. They are even in some ways almost too good - by showing sometimes more than necessary. So there is not necessarily any cause for alarm. Though of course I can not guarantee that nothing bad will be seen. Have it done soonest and THEN when your results are known we can discuss them! At present we know nothing and that is not a good foundation for anything! Right? Good luck!
