Breast Cancer/Breast Cancer

Question
Hi there,

I have just received my radiology report.  It was sent to me in error.  The report is now being faxed to my doctor!

I am struggling to understand the report and would really like your help please.

The conclusion:
1. No mammographic evidence of malignancy - Category 2 mammogram.
2. On ultrasound, in the right breast at 7 o'clock is an intraductal mass lesion, raising the possibility of either intraductal papillary lesion or DCIS/other pathology.  This should be assessed with ultrasound guided core biopsy, and at the same time, FNA of the right axilla to assess the asymmetric prominent right axillary lymph nodes.

Looking forward to your reply.

Thanks and cheers

Diana

PS I'm happy for this to be public as long as my identity is not know.

Answer
Your mammography did not show anything suspected to be a cancer. Your ultrasound scan did show something inside a milk duct in the lower outer part of your right breast that can be either a simple wart (more probable) or maybe a very small early cancer (less probable). To make sure what it is an ultrasound guided needle biopsy of the lesion is suggested. At the same time it is suggested to make fine/thin needle aspiration biopsies of lymph nodes in your right arm pit. All to make sure what they are. I agree. That should all be done! Good luck!
