Question
I have just had a mammogram I am a 42 year old woman. My right breast is 1.5 inches bigger than left I have had pain and discomfort mammogram has shown what may be a small cyst got to go for ultrasound could this be more serious or does the mammogram show cysts .

Answer
Cysts are usually not dangerous! An ultrasound scan can confirm if it is a cyst. If necessary the cyst can also be checked by an ultrasound guided needle biopsy. Asymmetri between the breasts is common and not of any importance in a situation like this. Soreness, tenderness, pain & discomfort in breasts are not usually associated with (early) breast cancer (late breast cancer should be obvious in mammography). So I do not see any real reason for worry. Good luck!
