Question
My father in law 78 years old recently undergone MRM surgery for his right beast to remove 3*3 tomour. His pathology report after the surgery reveals that ER and PR Positive and Metastatic deposit in two of eighteen axillary lymph nodes. There is perinodal spread. Test negative for his 2/Neu oncoprotien over expression. Doctor advised that he will not tolerate Chemo therapy considering his age. they suggested some drugs for ER and PR positive. They did not prescribe any drug at present as wound to heel. i request you to advise us wether to go for Chemo or drugs. what are the side effects of these drugs. Wether any chance of reoccurence .

Answer
Actually I would in this case suggest both postsurgical radiation therapy AND chemotherapy. Age itself is not a reason for not giving chemotherapy. The only reason for not giving it would be a bad general condition. He should also have hormonal therapy as suggested. The side effects of those drugs are not very serious. Chemotherapy side effects are serious but I think a necessary price to pay here. Good luck!
