Breast Cancer/breast mass

Question
my mother has had a mass on her right breast - upper outer area for the past 20 or so years. it is hard, non tender and has a small overlying pustule. it has not been imaged or biopsied. she was always assured that it was superficial. recently she reports that it is draining clear fluid. it has not changed in size nor is there any redness or tenderness to the area. i have told to seek a surgeons opinion. any thoughts on what this may be?

Answer
There are many possibilities - too many to list here without an examination. It is not probable that it has anything to do with cancer but with those symptoms it should be examined by a surgeon.
