Breast Cancer/fibroadenoma or complicated cyst

Question
I have a fibroadenoma or minimally complicated cyst diagnosis. I also have "heterogeneously dense fibroglandular tissue." Is an ultrasound sufficient for followup or is a ultrasound with mammogram better for followup procedure in 6 months? Thank you.

Answer
That depends on your age and other factors. But if you are well over 30, close to or in your 40ies and above or if you have a family history of breast cancer (some would say even at a younger age) you SHOULD in order to get the BEST result have mammography AND ultrasound breast scans AND MRI breast scans done in this situation (mainly because of dense fibrocystic breast tissues)! At least needle biopsies of all unclear lesions should also be done! Good luck!
