Question
I'm 53,DX L.Breast CA @25. Had profolactic R. Mastect. with reconstruction in 1983.  June 2,2010 both inplants had ruptured and were replaced. Two weeks after surgery I have a seroma R. side.  Interventional Radiologist inserted 7mm cath.  After two weeks he started treatments.  He injected 30cc Marcaine for 30mins. Extracted it and injected 20cc Alcohol for 30mins.  We did this 7 weeks.  I developed an abcess. Had surgery, I&D, Aug 16. He put in a JP drain for 3 weeks. I still have the seroma! They want to put a 7mm drain in again and if worst comes to worst, take the prosthesis out for 3-4 months. Do you have any suggestions? I am a Surgical First Assistant and worked in the OR 33 years.

Answer
Sorry Cindy, I'm not a surgeon or an intervening radiologist. I'm a medical oncologist and radiation therapist! So this is actually outside my area of expertise here. I do strongly suggest that you direct this question to any expert of those 2 specialities instead.
