Breast Cancer/Breast Biopsy Reort, Elevated CA-125

Question
I am a 49 yr old RN who in the course of a work-up for an elevated CA-125 with ovarian pain and menstrual spotting noticed a palpable lump in the L breast which has since been biposied. The report reads "Fibrocystic disease with mild epithelial hyperplasia attended by apocrine metaplasia." The Gynecologist does "not know what that means" and is sending me to a surgeon. She is also sending me to a Gyn Oncologist for the CA-12 of 41. My question is: can a CA-125 rise with breast issues such as mine and is my pathology report worrisome? Thank you very much in advance for your time and opinion.

Answer
Your pathology report has nothing to do with cancer - which frankly your gynecologist ought to know - and it is most doubtful  if your CA-125 has anyting to do with this breast finding. That is probably a case for an investigation (result not sure) by a gyn. oncologist. So my impression is that your breast case is a benign side issue. Good luck!
