Breast Cancer/Liver metastasis

Question
Dear Dr Nordquist!
Four years ago I was diagnosed with triple-negative breast cancer, 3.5 cm, Elston grade III, and was treated with mastectomy and chemo (FEC 75). In December 2010 it was discovered that the bc had spread and that I had a large (8-9 cm) tumour in my liver. My doctor thought it was possible that my cancer had metastasized before it was even discovered. I have been offered treatment with Taxol, which I have accepted, and also with Avastin, which I have said no to, due to serious side effects, and, as I see it, little gain. Am I doing the right thing?

Answer
Det går utmärkt att skriva till mig på svenska!  As far as can see I have no real objections to what you intend to do. We can of course never be completely sure in advance that a decision is the correct one but again so far I have no objections. However in order to decrease your tumour burden I would prefer that your liver lesion also was removed by some other means (surgery or radio frequency ablation). Good luck/lycka till!
