Question
Hello I am 49 years old and diagnosed with breast cancer please help me interpret this diagnosis

BREAST, RIGHT, STEREOTACTIC BIOPSY
-INVASIVE DUCTAL CARCINOMA, WELL DIFFERENTIATED, NOTTINGHAM GRADE I
(TUBULE FORMATION 2, NUCLEAR PLEOMORPHISM 2, MITOSIS 1).
- DUCTAL CARCINOMA IN SITU (DCIS), NUCLEAR GRADE 2, WITH FOCAL CENTRAL NECROSIS.
-MICROCALCIFICATIONS.


ER/PR and HER-2 to follow.

Answer
You have an invasive cancer in your right breast. It is invasive but yet not very malignant in spite of that. It is derived from your milk duct tissues. Cancer that is not invasive and is only growing in its place of origin is also seen It is also derived from the same tissues. The rest are just technicalities. However we are still waiting for some important laboratory reports (ER/PR & HER-2). Until we have those future action can not be decided. How big is your lesion according to mammography?
