Breast Cancer/sore breasts

Question
76 yrs. old had mammogram 18 mths ago. fine,  Have very sore breasts and doc says another mammogram this week. They are sore to touch and certain areas like on bone structure in them it is like getting stuck with a needle when touched there.  This all started about 6 mths ago after starting and still taking 1000 mg of vitamin D. Also hurts in left arm to elbow. I read that this vitamin can cause this?? Can/t feel any lumps

Answer
Sore breasts are rarely a sign of breast cancer and at this age mammography should give accurate readings of her breast status or are there any signs of any fibrocystic breast condition that can explain her sore condition? Besides mammography can hardly be pleasant with sore breasts. So in spite of age her breast cancer risk is probably not very high right now. But it is not 0 either! Why this high dosage of vitamin D?
