Hello,
I am 26 years old. I have a 4yr old and breastfeed. I recently felt a large lump in my right breast which is also quite painful. I can also fill it under my armpit. It feels like a big knot and aches all day. I had my gyno check it and she sent me for an ultrasound and mammogram. The ultrasound showed normal breat tissue so they did not perform the mammogram. Well it still is bothering me. I have no family history of breast cancer. My doctor did tell me to stop drinking caffine. Could it just be PMS and caffine causing this pain and knots? Should I get a second opinion?
It is never wrong to ask for a second opinion. However since it is painful and you are rather young it is probably not a cancer but PMS. I doubt though that stopping the use of caffeine will be of much help. If you want to be sure you can ask for a fine/thin needle aspiration biopsy. Such are done by the thousands at the MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston so hopefully you can get it too where you are! Good luck!
