Breast Cancer/breast lump

Question
hi, i am 38 and i found a small lump in my left breast between the breast and armpit.. i went straight to my g.p and she said she was almost certain it was a 1 cm cyst, she said she could move it, however it seems solid and bone like to me, anyway she said i had to go back and see her in months time after i had had a period. the problem is i am worried really bad about it,i have a friend the same age as me fighting breast cancer, its because of her i checked myself. also  i seem to have a funny sensation in my left arm like its sort of aching slightly.. is it ok for my g.p not to send me to get it checked properly instead of just feeling it.. i cant stop worrying about it, even though she was convinced it was nothing..hope you can help thank you emma

Answer
If i had checked you I would have 1. sent you to mammography, 2. also sent you to ultrasound breast scans and maybe to MRI breast scans and 3. tried to have at least a needle biopsy of your lump either by touch guidance or by ultrasound guidance or by MRI guidance or stereotactically based on your mammographies! I suggest that you go to a breast surgeon to get help and not to a G.P.! No one can be sure of what it is just by touch!
