Breast Cancer/Calcification in breasts

Question
I am a 27 y/o female. Mother of 3 (ages 7,6 and 3)I am about 5'3" and weigh about 105 lbs.  About two weeks ago, I felt a lump in my breast and my Dr. sent me for an ultrasound.  The radiologist took many pictures (ultrasound and mammogram)He said that the lump was normal breast tissue, but he seemed to be very concerned about a lot of calcium deposits in both breasts...he said he had never seen someone my age with calcification.  The deposits themselves looked like grains of rice, or little maggots.  He basically said I need to have blood work done to test my cholesterol, and also look for vascular disease.  I am just curious if the calcification could possibly be a cause of something else?

Answer
I agree with him! If you have a lot of calcifications in both breasts at your age it is not normal. Obviously it did not look like calcifications caused by cancer and if this is widely spread in both breasts at your age it most probably has nothing to do with cancer. But it should be checked as he suggested! However I also think a thin needle aspiration biopsy of your lump should be done in order to be on the safe side! A bilateral breast MRI scan could also be of interest.
Good luck!
