Breast Cancer/Stage IV Breast Cancer

Question
My friend has State IV breast cancer.  It has spread to her bones and liver.  She has recently been hospitalized (yesterday) and is developing jaundice.  She has Lymphodema badly.  I understand that the liver is shutting down and she is dying.  Is this a short process (like days) or can it be more drawn out (like weeks or months)?  Please let me know.

Answer
If she is already developing jaundice due to the fact that her breast cancer has spread to there, then her liver as you have written is close to shut down. That process is usually quite quick. I would make an educated guess and say 2-3 weeks maximum, quite possibly much shorter. I'm sorry I have nothing nicer to tell you!
