Breast Cancer/breast calcifications

Question
My radiologist aborted a stereotactic biopsy procedure on irregular microcalcifications because they were under the areola near the base of the nipple, 17 millimeters down.  She referred me to a surgeon to consider a peri-areola wire-guided surgical biopsy.  The young surgeon says that there will be loss of sensation with this procedure.  I originally was given an option of waiting 6 months to repeat the mammogram but it was not recommended.  It has taken 2 months to get to a surgeon and I am considering waiting to get a repeat mammogram.  I am being treated by a naturopath for cancer as a precaution during this time.  What are they likely to see at 3 months or 6 months on a repeat mammogram that will indicate cancer or not? Thank you.

Answer
I can not make decisions for you, you have to do it yourself. But since you have asked I will give you a very frank reply. If I were you I would INSIST on the surgical biopsy ASAP and NOT wait for mammograms in another ½ year or so! Nor would I bother with a naturopath - in my opinion a wasre of time & money. You MAY lose some sensitivity in that nipple area, BUT we are discussing a possible illness that can be life threatening! But of course the choice is yours.
