Question
I was diagnosed with breast cancer in my left breast. Now they want a biopsy of right breast for calcifications.
will they find cancer there too?  I wanted to have lumpectomy and radiation for the left. Will I be better of getting mastectomy maybe double?  I need your advice. thank you.

Answer
To be able to give you a good answer to your questions I MUST know a lot more about your situation than I do right now based on the information you have provided so far. I'm a dr. NOT some sort of fortune teller. The reason they want to do a biopsy of your right breast is because they need to KNOW what the situation there is. Calcifications of some kind may make a cancer there probable BUT NOT SURE! Without a biopsy NO ONE can know for sure! So we do NOT know at present if anything at all will be necessary with regards to your right breast and will not know until the biopsy result is known. I can not answer your lumpectomy question unless you tell me the location, size, grade and stage of your left breast cancer. Nor can I answer your mastectomy question without knowing that too as well as the new biopsy result and a more detailed description of what they have found in your right breast. With all these facts however I'll be able to give you a good evaluation!
