Breast Cancer/lumpy breast

Question
hi doctor,
my question is for the last few months my one breast has been painful. a kind of burning yet stabbing shooting pain down the right side into my nipple from my armpit. i saw my gyn who said that my breast is very lumpy and that its too hard for her to do the exam and is sending me for an ultrasound. does this sound like breast cancer? i am 23 with two kids and am not currently on any meds and i have been avoiding caffine. thanks im really scared

Answer
It sounds like fibrocystic breast disorder to me which has nothing to do with breast cancer. However to do your breast examinations complete not only ultrasound scans but also x-ray mammograms and breast MRI scans should be used! At your age and with 2 kids already the risk of breast cancer is small. Caffeine has nothing to do with breast cancer.
