Breast Cancer/paget's disease

Question
I am concerned that I may have myself all worked up for
nothing.  2 months ago I got a large pimple looking bump that
ooozed for a few days.  I went to the walkin clinic and they gave
me an antibiotic and sent me on my way.  It was on the brown
part of the nipple on a milk duct.   I had a baby 2 1/2 years ago
and couldn't breast feed.  I know that people want to tell me
about the brest feeding problem, doesn't apply to me.  Anyway, I
still have this sore 2 months later.  It is not as bad, but it still
looks open.  My nipple area is very dry and all symptoms are on
my left breast.  This morning I woke up and there was another
place on my breast.  It is below nipple area and is oozing.   went
to the clinci and they said a spider bite but told me I should go
to my doc to get the other place looked at. The second bump is
more painfiul and it is now hurting into my under arm.  My sister
started remembering somethng she had read and I have to say
that my symptoms are similar to pagets diesase. The major
difference is my age.  I am only 26 and most sites say middle
aged women.   Please help before I make myself crazy.  My
family doctor cannot get me in until Friday and I am freaking
out.  I am so worried that tthere is something wrong with me
and no one will listen to me.  Can you give me some insight to
this disease.  I am a newlywed and I have the best son in the
world, and I cannot imagine being sick.  Please let me know
what you think.

Sincerely,

Kristen

Answer
Without an examination I can not be sure of course but both your description and your age indicate that this is a case of inections/inflammations rather than Paget's disease of the nipple - a not too common disorder and very unlikely at your age. But in order to take care of the problem, do see your dr. soonest!
