Breast Cancer/possible lump lt breast vs normal anatomy

Question
I am a 43 yr old female. I have had 2 bx in my left breast- both benign. I have felt a "lump" in the 11 o'clock position in the left breast. I noticed it about 5-6 mos ago.But because of insurance difficulties, I have not had it checked. I do have an appt with my int. med dr this week and will have it checked. My question is : I know breasts can be lumpy.I just feel silly if it is part of the normal anatomy-like muscles etc. It feels like a small pea shaped place.I can feel it best when lying flat or in a semi-sitting position.I have compared it to my right breast and it feels different. There is a family hx of colon and thyroid cancer in my father and sister. What would normal anatomy feel like-the muscles etc.?
I know it would not show up on a mammogram as my breast tissue is very dense (per my last mammogram).
Thanks. I hope this made sense to you.

Answer
If your breasts are very dense mammograms SHOULD be complemented with ultrasound AND MRI breast scans!!! If this lump can be felt a needle biopsy should also be done! How it feels to the touch is nothing reliable to go on! Follow the advice above instead!
Good luck!
