Breast Cancer/Could this really be breast cancer

Question
I am 27 years old. For approx. 9 months I have had clear discharge from my right breast.  My OB/GYN sent me for an ultrasound...no lumps or masses found. Then he later called to send me to a surgeon.  Upon visiting the surgeon, he tells me that because the discharge is in one breast, it's sporadic, and it is clear, that I could have cancer of the milk ducts.  He wants to remove the ducts in my right breast next week.  Should I let him...get a 2nd opinion...leave it alone..?  What will happen either way? I'm scared and confused. Please help.  Thank you.

Answer
For heaven's sake, get a second opinion ASAP! Clear nipple discharges are VERY RARELY associated with breast cancer (blood mixed discharges are another matter) and at least you should be much better investigated with exfoliative cytology of the discharge fluid, mammography, breast MRI scans apart from the ultrasound scans already done and also a galactogram of the milk duct from which the discharge comes. Not until these things are done should ANYTHING else be considered! Chances are big that what you have has nothing to do with cancer! Though of course I can not promise anything! Good luck!
