Question
My baby is almost eight weeks old and I've been taking the mini pill for a week now and noticed some bleeding.  It doesn't feel like my normal period.  There's no cramping and it's not nearly as heavy.  I've breastfed my sons from before and never had my period for nearly a year.  I find bleeding this soon after giving birth rather worrisome. I took a pregnancy test before starting the pill and it came out negative. Is this possilbe when taking the mini pill?

Answer
Chances are , its not that you are pregnant , but rather your body is reacting to the hormones in the mini pill. If you are exclusivly nursing, chances are you are not even ovulating. however, if it concerns you , I would call your care provider. I am not that familiar with the implications of the mini pill, but my guess would be is that your body is a little confused with the hormones from the pill. I would suggest calling your doctor to rule out anything that could be delayed from healing from your birth.
