Question Thanks a lot for replying to my question.About the milk duct problem as you asked me what I am doing.I am doing the following things:-
1)After every feeding I message the breasts for 1 minute.
2)Taking Lecithin granules 1 tablespoon every day.
3)Careful about not to wear congested clothes or carry bags on the shoulder.
4)while feeding careful not to constrict the milk duct accidentally with my thumb.
The pain when I get the block milk duct is not as much as the discomfort when I get this problem. There will be like elongated hard like thing underneath my breast skin .Most of the time I get it only in the left breast and only at one place which is at the front top of the breast. So change of feeding position dosent work there.Being on top front I cant latch the baby so that her chin can touch the blocked area. This stays for 6-7 days and gradually becomes soft.On the first day of blockage I get fever of 100 degree at night ,and flu symptoms but fever and flu symptoms go away in the morning and only hard blocked duct is left. That area is red and warm to touch.
I have over supply of milk from the beginning. It has regulated to a great extent now as my baby has become 6 months old still every now and then I leak if I miss the feeding even by 1/2 an hour.My fear is that as soon as I start solid food she will breastfeed less and I will get block duct again. So my question is what will be the right way to feed her solid and breast milk at the same time so that I dont get blocked milk duct in absence of complete drainage of breasts.
Please help me.
Answer Hi Sharda,
it seems you are doing everything right with the blocked duck, and I admit I am at a loss with the overnight fever etc. I would really recommend speaking to your doctor or a more qualified breastfeeding counsellor. Sorry to pass the buck.
Have you thought about Baby Led Weaning, this way your baby is in full control of her food intake, and so this will leave her more in control of both food and milk intake. It is also a wonderful way to wean. Have a look at the following link:

and have a look for the Gill Rapley Guidelines on the Introduction of Solid Foods - which will give you the "rules"
Come back to me again whan you have had a look with any questions
