Question
Hi Ruth,

I gave up breastfeeding about a week ago i did it stage by stage,
i got mastitis, i went to the doctors he gave me antibiotics i was on them for a week it did go away, but then about 3 days later i had a very sore right boob i cant lift my arm above my head so i waited i was trying to push some milk out coz i thought i had mastitis back again, but it got even more sore so i went to a different doctor and he put me back on antibiotics 500mg this time and he said i have fat trauma....
ive never heard of it and its still very sore im not sure what to do with my sore boob.im not breastfeeding any more it leaks when it hurts so im hoping the pain will go away soon
thanks jess

Answer
I have also never heard of this before, ( the fat trauma... ) I did a little research but havent found a " what to do about it " . My guess would be it will have to heal on its own. You might try using cabbage leaves to dry up the milk, drinking sage tea and putting the tea bags on your breast tissue. this will help them dry up faster so you no longer leak and attempt to have the pain go away. My guess is it will just take some time. but you may want to call the doctor or a certified lactation consultant to ask what if anything you can do for the pain or what to watch for.

good luck!  hope that helped a little!
