Breastfeeding - Constipation

Question
My daughter is 7 weeks old. We are switching from breastfed to Formula. She has not pooped in 2 days, how do we get her un-constipated? My mom used to stick her finger in rectally, and others have told us to do so. Does this work? Is  it recommended?

Answer
Unfortunatly , thats one of the biggest issues with formula  allergy issues . gas, and constipation are common.  You can now and again use your finger for stimulation but if you do it too often, you can damage rectal tissue so that the baby can no longer use it effectivly on her own. Unless she is uncomfortable, you should just let it be and wait for her to go on her own. If she gets really uncomforatble, consult with her doctor.
