Breastfeeding - mastitis and milk supply

Expert: ruth kraft - 10/10/2009

Question
I have had mastitis three times in the same breast, now I am only able to pump about one ounce out of the infected side. I am making plenty in the other breast but am curious if my supply will ever return in the infected side? It has been about 3 weeks since I have had the mastitis and still no change. Any suggestions?

Answer
you can try to pump more on that side to build up supply or maybe some mothers milk tea to help build it up. usually it does come back. but its also normal for one side to make less in general. pump twice as much for a few days only on the one side and see if that helps.

good luck!
