Question
Hi,
I am concerned about how my 2 mnth old son is spitting up, at lest once a day he actualy throws up as well. He is gaining weight, born @7,3 and now 12,10. He seems to be having alot of wet burps and then acts likes he is trying to catch his breath. He cries at my breast during the evening, but still he seems hungry, he is also always streching with his back arched and legs tucked in like a bean. He moves his head side to side alot, and is constantly moving around. When I told my doctor I think he might have a bit of Reflex, he brushed me off and said all babies spit up, but didn't ask me more questions as to why I think this. Should I be taking him to another doctor?

Answer
Yes, I would get a second opinion. I would not worry about it much if the baby is gaining weight. Your doctor is correct, there are some babies who throw up at every feeding but as long as they are gaining, that it really all that matters. You can try things like mylicon, Baby dopholus ( at a health food store ), try reducing your own dairy as he may have a protien allergy to milk ( not your breastmilk but if you have dairy ) to see if that helps. If you can avoid putting him on medication, he would be much better off. But in the end, after you try the acidolpholus, which helps the digestive track, then get a second opinion if you are not comfortable with what your doctor has suggested. As always in life, you know your baby best, so if you need to get a second opinion. always follow your gut.
