Breastfeeding/drying up breast milk and infection

Question
Hi, I wanted some advise on drying up my breast milk.  I have a breast infection and am wondering if it is ok to start drying up while being treated for an infection or should I wait?  I was pumping 15 min Monday, 14 min Tues and will decrease a min daily.  Is this method ok?  I think this keeps happening b/c I have an over abundant supply of milk, but this is the second infection.  Thank you.

Answer
Usually we suggest starting by session rather by minute. The session of the day where you get the least amount of milk just stop pumping that session all together. for one week. then the following week, go with the next lowest and go from there. I would wait until the infection is gone so that you dont aggrivate your situation.
