Question
My daughter is 14 months old.  I have been nursing her once a day in the morning for the last 2 months.  She is getting big and I wonder if we don't stop now, it would be never.
Questions: if I continue to nurse her, would my milk supply eventually go down to zero?  Or would I continue to produce as long as there's demand?  Is it true that if I miss that 'window' of weaning, it would be very hard to wean her later?

Answer
Hello :) Congrats on nursing this long. The academy of pediatrics reccomending AT least for 1 year but reccomends 2 years! so good job!  To answer your questions, yes, eventually after weanings your milk will go down to nothing as it is supply and demand. No it is not true that you have a "window of weaning. If fact, most children wean themselves around 3. Many are sooner than that, at only twice in the morning, my guess would be your daughter would be sooner than that as that isnt that often. So, nurse until you and your baby are ready to give it up. not from peer pressure outside. You are doing what is reccomended by all the world health organizations :)

Congrats!
