Breastfeeding/no collustrum coming out and no milk

Question
My younger sister just had her first baby on Tuesday. She has been having difficulty breastfeeding, as her baby already cut one of her nipples from not being latched on well. She decided to pump some of the collastrum to give the baby. No collastrum is coming out and she has no milk. Does this mean her baby is not getting food? What should she do? She thinks there is nothing in her breasts to feed baby.

Answer
She needs to see the lactation consultant at the hospital she delivered at ASAP. if there isnt one , you can find a free councelor at www.llli.org. She needs to KEEP pumping every 2 hours. Get the latch fixed so it isnt painful for her and doesnt cause an issue any longer. the sooner the better. its still an easy to fix problem at this point... but she needs to get that help asap . in person, the councelor needs to see her in person to fix the issues at hand.

Good luck!
